POLLENSA

Pollensa o Pollensa is a municipality located almost 70 km from Palma airport. It is one of the municipalities with the greatest personality and history of the island. It is made up of two nuclei, Pollensa and Puerto de Pollensa with views of the cape of Formentor.

The town has many tourist attractions, its great architectural richness and cultural events make your visit a privilege, both in winter and summer. It is also an ideal place to practice water sports, swim in crystal-clear beaches or go on excursions in the mountains.

More than 3000 years ago, the Talayots arrived and left their signs of life in Pollensa. However, the best known inhabitants were the Romans, whose ruins from the year 123 can be visited on the outskirts of this small town.

The old Roman bridge, El Pont Romà, was built by the Romans to supply the city with water, and after so many centuries, it still stands.

Pollensa has a great tradition of craftsmanship, which is revealed in November at the Pollensa Fair, where you can buy antique furniture, hand embroidery, ceramics, etc.

To round off a visit to Pollensa, we recommend you try the local gastronomy of Mediterranean tradition, with emphasis on the cokes de trampó, arròs brut and the star dessert, the almond gató.

On Sundays, the Plaza Mayor becomes a stage for the best markets on the island that attract thousands of visitors, both tourists and residents. There you could enjoy a good latte and stroll around downtown. Also if you are interested in art and crafts, Pollensa is a small Elysée.

Its streets are full of small shops and boutiques where you can find cosmetic products, jewelry, handicrafts and fashion.

For those who love architecture, there is the Convent de Santo Domingo, a real jewel thanks to its design in sandstone. It can be visited free of charge and inside is the Museum of Pollensa, where different artists exhibit their works.

Pollensa is popular for one of its patron saint festivals, the battle between Moors and Christians, full of passion, feeling and a lot of history. This festival dates back to 1550, when the Christians, led by Joan Más, defeated the Turkish pirates freed by the evil Dragut.
